About Us
Our names are Ariel Gabriely (left) and Shea Greenberg (right), and we are students in the TR Robinson High School IB program. We have both been playing the piano since we were young and are currently both involved in Robinson's band program. Due to Robinson's IB status, there are kids from all around the county within the band program. This has exposed us to people from all sorts of cultural and economic backgrounds, which is something we are very thankful for. However, we learned that these differences have put us at an advantage compared to the students that, as young kids, never had access to instruments or private lessons. This is why we would like to donate keyboards to the neighboring elementary schools, as Robinson is in a low-income area and these schools simply don't have the funding that our elementary schools were lucky to receive. We hope that these donations will enhance the music curriculum for the students by providing them with hands-on experience playing instruments and will encourage them to continue pursuing music throughout the rest of their education.
our connections to music
Shea Greenberg
Music has been a vital part of my life ever since I began piano lessons in the first grade. This opportunity to learn music has led to numerous positive consequences as I grew up. From a young age, I learned discipline and focus through consistent practice. I have also always excelled in mathematics due to the formulaic nature of reading music. Perhaps more importantly, music provided me a creative outlet and a way to express my emotions. Anytime I felt stressed or upset I could always turn to the piano as a method of catharsis. Moreover, in middle and high school, band class is where I met many of my closest friends. Band is like a big family, and everyone in the program is very welcoming and accepting. I’m not sure where I would be today if I hadn’t been involved in music all my life. I strongly believe that every student deserves to have the same education I received, as it contributes significantly to cognitive and emotional growth, and therefore success in both school and life.

My connection to music started at six years old when my grandpa bought me my first piano keyboard. He has been playing piano his entire life and this moment formed an instant connection between the two of us that has only grown stronger since. Eager to make him proud, I started taking private lessons. Now, 3 teachers and 10 years later, I continue private piano lessons and play at home as my way to escape anything stressful going on in my life. Throughout the years, playing the piano has taught me not only how to self-discipline myself into practice but also that nothing meaningful in life comes easily and hard work is the best way to achieve goals. Until the age of 15, the piano and music as a whole remained my private sanctuary, but my sophomore year of high school I joined the Robinson band and took a music theory course at school. Enrolling in both of these classes enhanced both my love and understanding of music, introduced me to some of my closest friends, and showed me that music doesn't have to be (and almost never is) something individual. The past year and a half have pushed me immensely in my music and I couldn't be happier about it. I hope that this organization can help give similar experiences to the students in our community.
